Vu, DDS |

|
| Dr.
H. Allen Vu currently practices general dentistry
in San Jose, near the Campbell and Los Gatos
area. While attending the University of California,
San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry,
he became passionate about helping the underserved
in the San Francisco. His desire to help the
poor grew from his experience at his rotation
at the Family Dental Clinic in San Francisco
General Hospital as a 4th year dental student
and his involvement with the Homeless Clinic
at UCSF after his graduation in 1996.
Dr. Vu joined the
Christian Health Alliance after hearing
a presentation by Dr. Andrew Hwang at Grace
Community Covenant Church. Dr. Vu feels
that God reignited his passion for helping
others after his discussion with Dr. Hwang.
Much of his time outside work is devoted
to TraMy, his wife, and his son Timothy,
who was born in late 2005.

Hwang, MD |

Dr.
Andrew Hwang is the co-medical director of
the Christian Health Alliance. Born and raised
in Chicago, he attended undergraduate and
medical school at Northwestern University.
While in college, God opened his eyes to ministry
among the poor and underserved as a tool for
racial reconciliation. He then spent a month
in medical school at Lawndale Christian Health
Center, where God showed him how to incorporate
his faith into his future career. After graduating
from medical school, he moved to San Jose,
California, for his residency at Santa Clara
Valley Medical Center. There, he met Dr. Cheryl
Thieu, and the two of them, with God’s
grace and help, established the Christian
Health Alliance.
Dr. Hwang is a member of Grace Community Covenant
Church in Palo Alto. In his free time, Dr.
Hwang enjoys jogging among the hills under
the beautiful California sky. He also enjoys
a good home-cooked meal, often his own, as
well as an occasional turn on the ballroom
dance floor. |

| Cheryl
(Ho) Thieu, MD |
|
| |
|
| Dr.
Cheryl Thieu is the founder and president/CEO
of the Silicon Valley Christian Health Alliance
(SVCHA). Her desire to serve the poor first
came from reading the Bible. She then found
other like-minded Christians, who helped fan
this desire into a tangible flame. Dr. Thieu
currently works full-time with the Valley
Homeless Healthcare Program, a division of
the Santa Clara Valley Health and Hospital
System. In this position, she works with vulnerable
populations in Santa Clara County as a primary
care physician for homeless adults, injection
drug users, and migrant farm workers.
Dr.
Thieu’s dream and vision is to see
SVCHA become the first fully independent,
full-time Christian clinic for the poor
in the Bay Area. She is an active member
at the San Jose Christian Alliance Church.
She was married to Douglas Thieu in July
2005.

| Joyce,
Kevin (her husband), and their son, Joshua
attend the River Church. Joyce works as an
epidemiologist for the Santa Clara County
Public Health Department. One of her interests

| Linh
Ly |
|
| |
|
| Linh
Ly is the coordinator for the volunteers and
prayer ministers. She was born in Vietnam
and immigrated to New Jersey, where she grew
up in one of its urban cities. A desire to
move to California in 2003, resulted in coming
to church and receiving Christ, which has
changed her life. She had received much healing
in a loving community of the church family.
She met Cheryl in the fellowship group and
she knew she wanted to be a part of this ministry,
which provides “whole person”
care for the physical, emotional and spiritual
needs of people. Linh
is currently serving as office staff at
San Jose Christian Alliance Church. She
is a small group Bible study leader in the
Young Adult fellowship. Her desire is to
grow deeper in the Lord and to share the
love of Jesus. She enjoys traveling, hiking,
arts and crafts, dancing, and spending time
with family and friends.

Tsai, M.Ed |
|
| |
|
| Lorri
Tsai is a public school teacher in the Bay
Area. She has had extensive training and experience
in the field of education. Her passions are
in leaning about the Bible, helping people
to grow in Christ, and most of all, ministering
to families. She sees people in the context
of their families and how that molds them.
Moreover, she is amazed at how God can redeem
a person's background, for instance, as shown
in Jesus' genealogy. She enjoys being on the
“frontlines” of ministry because
that allows her to spend time with people
and watch God work in their lives.
Lorri’s
personal interests are very broad. She spends
a great amount of time reading. The arts--architecture,
painting, sculpture, film, dance, music,
and poetry--are part of her upbringing.
Although she loves to travel and is comfortable
living in different cultures, she considers
San Francisco home because that is where
her cherished ones are found.
